Extraordinary safari through the Namib Desert in Northwestern Namibia. We will discover desert elephants in the side valleys of the Ugab, Mudorib, Sawurogab, Hoarusin and Hoanib Rivers. These ephemeral rivers are frequented by elephants in their search for water.

In the Palmwag Concession Area we will sight the black rhinoceros which is also an endangered species. In the Hobatere Concession Area we will be on the look-out for elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, eland-antelopes and Hartmann’s mountain zebras.

Tour Itinerary

Daily Details for: Namibia • Group Safari



Day 1: Arrival in Walvis Bay.

Transfer from airport to hotel in Swakopmund. The remainder of the day is at leisure.



Day 2: Walvis Bay

Trip to Walvis Bay. Dolphin watching by boat on the high sea at Walvis Bay while enjoying oysters and sparkling wine.



Day 3: Ugab River

We drive north to the Ugab river, whose riverbed is sandy and whose tributaries are lined with trees and shrubs. This is the habitat of desert elephants.



Day 4: - Damaraland

In a northerly direction it goes on a four-wheel drive to a high plateau with a fantastic view of red-coloured table mountains. Afternoon drive through the dry Huab River, with possible sightings of desert elephants.



Day 5: Palmwag Concession Area

Visit the Palmwag Concession Area, an approximately 5,000 km2 privately managed nature reserve in the hilly reddish landscape of the desert region, with small and large game species, including the endangered black rhino and the desert elephant.



Day 6: Rhino Trekking and Hoanib river

In the early morning, a special activity is awaiting you - Rhino trekking. This excursion takes place with an open 4x4 vehicle to the site of the rhino sighting and the pursuit is carried out on foot in search of rhinos. During this excursion, your experienced guide, accompanied by an experienced tracker, will guide you into the sprawling areas of Damaraland to observe the critically endangered black rhino. While the focus of this rhinoceros tracking expedition is on you, you can spot other wildlife such as mountain zebra, giraffe, kudu, oryx, springbok, and many others.



Day 7 - Hoanib river

Day trip to Hoanib dry river. On the way to Sesfontein, our way goes on sandy and gravel roads to the dry river Hoanib.

Observation of antelopes, giraffes, lions, leopards and desert elephants are possible. Drive through the Gomatum River Valley. Short visit to Sesfontein with its six springs and the fort from the German colonial era.



Day 8: Khowarib Gorge – Hobatere

Today's route leads through the wilderness of the narrow Khowarib Gorge, which is crossed by the Hoanib River. Here are some Damara and Herero families home. Your destination for the day is the Hobatere Lodge, which is strategically located on the western border of the Etosha National Park. The 8,808-hektar concession area of ​​this lodge has an abundance of elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, eland and Hartmann Mountain Zebra. On request, a night game drive is possible.



Day 9 -10: Etosha National Park

Drive from Hobatere Lodge east to Okaukuejo rest camp in Etosha National Park. On the way visit of waterholes, with the possibility to observe and photograph a variety of game species. Arrival in the afternoon in Okaukuejo. Wild watching also at night directly from the fence overlooking the source possible.



Day 11: Erongo Mountains

Drive south to the Erongo Mountains, the second highest point in Namibia. Lunch at Erongo Wilderness Lodge, located in a conservation and conservation area consisting of 30 privately owned farms and covering approximately 200,000 hectares.
